This Web site is titled simply, “Be Watchful” and is based on Jesus Christ’s instructions to the disciples who asked him about the time preceding His return to earth. In Luke 21:34 He tells them, “…take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly.” In verse 36, Jesus admonishes them, “Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.”
I sat down finally one night to start organizing this Web site after a long, dreadful week at work. I like my job very much, but the nature of my job can be disheartening.
I am a journalist.
Day after day, it’s bad news after bad news after bad news after bad news… It doesn’t seem to ever let up.
The last straw was this week because, simply, my cup just finally overflowed. There were at least five cases of murder-suicides in the few days I was at work. A man decided to kill his five children and then himself… because his wife was threatening divorce. A want-to-be American walked into an immigration center and opened fired on a room full of people, killing more than a dozen. A young man decided to shoot two cops in the head upon their arrival at his doorstep. An elderly woman decided to commit suicide during school spring break in a crowded New York mall. Another woman decided to shoot her young son execution-style and then herself at a gun range. I could go on… Some of these cases you may be familiar with, but there are literally dozens of other tragic cases everyday just like these that the national media hasn’t touched.
But before I am a journalist, I am a Christian. And, being a faithful servant of Jesus Christ, I believe all of the prophecies He shared with His disciples as recorded in the Holy Bible. I firmly believe that this unusual swell of violence is being caused by three specific reasons – the love of many is growing cold, men are losing heart for fear of what is coming on them and this is the time prophesied of the end.
The nation is on a downward slide, record numbers of people are losing their jobs every month, many are still losing their homes and others are struggling with health care (if you don’t have a job, pretty soon you don’t have insurance). And two proofs of moral decay are an increase and promotion of abortion, and the access of gay “marriage” in several states.
The economic issue is hitting many worldwide, which has prominent world leaders calling for “global unity”, “a new world order” and a “new era”. I firmly believe these are a part of the signs of the times our LORD and SAVIOR Jesus Christ and His prophets spoke of in the Holy Bible. Therefore, I am endeavoring to share with those looking for answers what GOD ALMIGHTY has to say about these times and how HIS people are to behave and think in these last and evil days. No, I am not a prophet. I am only a concerned sister in Jesus Christ who wants to share the Good News about our Blessed Hope.
I want to share with all who are seeking freedom and peace that suicide or any kind of violence is not the solution to the pressures many of us are facing today. I am here to tell you that there is a rainbow after the storm, a light at the end of the tunnel and Eternal Life in Jesus Christ. HE died for you and for me… for all of us. Jesus Christ died for the children yet to be born into this world. Jesus Christ died for the atheists who claim HE doesn’t exist. Jesus Christ died so that every single human being on this planet HE created can live. John 3:16 isn’t a cliche. It’s a promise.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him (John 3:16-17, ESV).
Jesus was crushed on the Cross for you and me and I’m here to tell you why. I’m here to tell you why you must not throw up your hands. I’m here to tell you why you must continue putting one foot in front of the other. I’m here to tell you why you don’t have to walk alone… and that you’re never, ever really alone.
It simply takes some faith… and even with that Jesus Christ will help. He will help your unbelief. And He’s here, ready, willing and able to rescue and save you. He’s just waiting for your call, an invitation.
Brothers and sisters, I don’t want your heart to grow cold. I don’t want you to faint. I don’t want you to get caught up with the short-term. I don’t want you to be deceived by things that are unfolding before our very eyes. Neither does GOD. That’s why HE had HIS servants of old wrote it all down in what we call the Holy Bible.
I pray in the name of Jesus Christ that at least one soul is saved from the fire by this work that I do in His name.
